Jump Into Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers

By Morgan Iverson

I was on the fence about going to Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers (WIFYR) my first year. I had plans for another conference in Utah (I’m from Georgia) the month before, and wasn’t sure about making two trips. With some nudging from family and friends, I decided to go.

My publisher had accepted my manuscript a couple of weeks before, so I had a different perspective than at other conferences I'd attended. I believe that published or pre-published, any author who wants to change the world can learn from WIFYR.

While at the conference, I had a consultation with Amy Jameson of A+B Works. I was looking for an agent to help me work out the contract with my publisher. Several discussions after we met at WIFYR, Amy and I decided to work together! She’s an amazing agent who makes my life easier and my books better. So grateful for the opportunities this conference gives authors!

If you’re on the fence about WIFYR, jump the fence. I’ve been invited to speak at different venues, created interest in my books from multiple publishers, made amazing friends in the community, and even met my agent from this conference! If you want to be a published author and are ready to do what it takes, WIFYR is the conference for you.

I really enjoyed reading this. The post captures the excitement of connecting with other writers and learning together. It made me think about how much guidance and creativity matter when starting something new. Sometimes working with expert academic ghostwriters can give that extra push to bring ideas to life. The way this conference encourages growth and confidence feels genuinely inspiring and down-to-earth.

This post brims with energy and possibility — exactly the push writers need to say yes to their ideas. I’ve been exploring Coneten Online Dissertation Help in Ireland, and it struck me: support structured well makes all the difference. Conferences like these remind me why community matters, in craft as much as confidence.

Thanks for sharing your inspiring WIFYR journey, Morgan! It's amazing how the right conference can open doors to agents, publishers, and meaningful connections. For writers preparing for such opportunities, partnering with a manuscript writing company can make a huge difference helping shape ideas into polished, professional submissions that truly stand out.
