Murder. I’ve read about it, written about it, and lived through it. Robert Lloyd Sellers killed my best friend, Savannah Anderson, on Mother’s Day in 1979. I’ve struggled with the ‘why her and not me?’ question all my life. But Savannah left a legacy. It was because of her that I began to write mysteries, winning the Edgar Allan Poe Award on my first novel with an additional three nominations. And, although I’ve published in other genres, the theme of mortality pulls me back in its endless tide. In my YA Sleuth Forensic Mystery Series published by Penguin, Cameryn Mahoney works for her coroner father and sees death medically. Currently I’m finishing Dragonfly Eyes, which explores the idea of justice on the ‘other side.’ My mysteries have been published in many anthologies, including FEAR, edited by R.L. Stine, as well as an adult story in WHAT DOESN’T KILL HER, Women’s Stories of Resilience, cited by Gloria Steinem. As an author of over 30 published books, I find teaching to be the most satisfying part of my journey – I look forward to help bring your mysteries to life!
