What Past Attendees Say: I have attended, helped plan, organized and volunteered for many writing conferences and writing charity events. WIFYR is by far the best for really delving into your own work and improving it. I was quite impressed with the dedication, hard work and overall awesomeness of each of the assistants, agents and editor. I am going away from this conference rejuvenated and reexcited about my work in progress. Naturally everyone who wants to write for children or teens should attend WIFYR at least once in their lifetime. Truly this week has been a delight and naturally I want to come back!

You do an amazing job! Thanks! I feel as if my brain will soon explode with all the relevant information that has been poured in this week. Inspired me to write more, write better, write because I love to writ. As Arnold would say, “I’ll be back!”

I love WIFYR. It has been integral to my development as a writer. The concentration on craft and publishing is so valuable. I haven’t come across a conference more focused on development of practical skills. The workshops are  so helpful; to get feedback on WIP’s specific to issues you’re dealing with : BRILLIANT!

I absolutely love this conference. I always leave feeling so inspired and ready to writer my socks off. 🙂 But more importantly I leave with new tools and techniques and knowledge that I can put into practice immediately. I love WIFYR. Thanks so much for putting on this amazing conference. I know it’s so much work – thank you!

WIFYR was an incredible experience. Both the morning workshops and the afternoons sessions provided excellent tips on how to refine my craft and how to succeed in the industry. It was fun to make friends with other writers and speak with famous authors, editors and agents. It was one of the craziest, funniest, and most inspirational weeks for me as a writer.

I loved being a guest editor at the Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers Conference–which I happily attended two consecutive years. Not only were the organizers and fellow faculty fun and welcoming, the Utah setting amazing, but I was very impressed by the attendees and their depth of writing talent. It was easy to give critiques and to offer advice. I highly recommend the conference to aspiring writers. It’s five days well spent!

Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers is a combination of all the best kinds of children’s lit events: it’s a workshop, a networking opportunity, and a conference, with the feel of a retreat. Utah’s strong children’s lit community draws excellent teachers from near and far. One of the best things you can do for your writing career is to learn from experts – and the experts are at WIFYR.
