James Dashner Scholarship for Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers
With gratitude to James Dashner for his generosity, the Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers conference staff is happy to present this scholarship award to four people each year who demonstrate financial need and a strong desire to hone their writing skills.
Submissions will begin February 9th, 2015 and end March 9th. Please note that a person may receive this scholarship only once. Each scholarship will be good for one regular, full-week workshop (not a specialty class, such as boot camp or full novel), a $545 value.
To apply, please complete the following steps.
- Prepare 1,500 words of a current work in progress (or one picture book manuscript) for submission to the email address listed in #3.
- Write and submit a statement of need and intent, detailing why you would like financial assistance and what you hope to gain from the conference. This may be brief, but must prove that you are serious about your writing and are willing to put in the work required for improvement.
- Submit all required materials as attachments by March 9th, 2015 (but not before February 9th) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicant’s name and email address should be included on a cover sheet and on each page of the submitted work in progress.
- Scholarship winners will be notified by email and receive a voucher for tuition.
