WIFYR is committed to fostering and supporting diverse voices in children’s literature.
This Diversity Scholarship is meant to support minority groups, as well as for writers from the LGBTQ community, who need financial assistance to attend our conference. We want to hear your stories!
Submissions will begin February 15th, 2017 and end March 15th
Please note that a person may receive this scholarship only once.
This scholarship covers:
One regular, full-week workshop (not a specialty class, such as boot camp or full novel), a $555 value.
It does NOT include travel, accommodations, or meals.
To apply, please complete the following steps:
Prepare 1,500 words of a current work in progress (or one picture book manuscript) for submission to the email address listed below.
Write and submit a statement of need and intent, detailing why you would like financial assistance and what you hope to gain from the conference. This may be brief, but must prove that you are serious about your writing and are willing to put in the work required for improvement.
Submit all required materials as attachments by March 15th, 2017 to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your story and manuscript must NOT have your name on it in any place. The judging will be done blind.
Scholarship winners will be notified by email and receive a voucher for tuition.
Note: Late manuscripts will not be accepted. Online submissions only.
You must be at least 16-years-old to attend WIFYR.
This year’s Diversity Scholarship is to be given in honor of the Jeff and Cheri Earl Family.
