James Dashner Scholarship for Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers
With gratitude to James Dashner for his generosity, the Writing and Illustrating for Young Readers conference staff is happy to present this scholarship award to two people each year who demonstrate financial need and a strong desire to hone their writing skills.
Submissions will begin February 15th, 2017 and end March 15th.
Please note that a person may receive this scholarship only once.
You must be at least 16 years old to attend WIFYR.
This scholarship covers:
One regular, full-week workshop (not a specialty class, such as boot camp or full novel), a $555 value.
It does NOT include travel, accommodations, or meals.
To apply, please complete the following steps:
Prepare 1,500 words of a current work in progress (or one picture book manuscript) for submission to the email address listed below.
Write and submit a statement of need and intent, detailing why you would like financial assistance and what you hope to gain from the conference. This may be brief, but must prove that you are serious about your writing and are willing to put in the work required for improvement.
Submit all required materials as attachments by March 15th, 2017 (but not before February 15th) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applicant’s name and email address should be included on a cover sheet and on each page of the submitted work in progress.
Scholarship winners will be notified by email and receive a voucher for tuition.
